MCAS Yuma

Marine Corps Air Station Yuma and the Yuma County Airport Authority work together under a Joint Use Agreement for the benefit of both entities. This agreement formalizes the coexistence of two independent, but mutually operating parties legitimately sharing a single common airfield since 1956.

The expressed goal of each organization is to merge the operational and planning efforts of both to realize a shared vision for the airport’s future with compatible and mutually agreeable growth that supports the interests of the United States Marine Corps, the Department of Defense, and the citizens of Yuma County, Arizona.

This agreement provides both parties the opportunity to develop a single airfield master plan that supports the aviation vision of both airfield users. Additionally, it binds both to develop in compliance with an agreed-to master plan.

Both MCAS Yuma and the YCAA fully understand that the only means for continued viability of the two organizations is a unified direction with a shared vision and complete understanding for each other's requirements for success.

MCAS Yuma recognizes the importance of continued commercial aviation growth for YCAA and YCAA recognizes the current and future Marine Corps Aviation training mission that is vital to our national security. In January 2007 the Airport's Board of Directors formally adopted a resolution declaring the Airport as an "Aviation Partner" with MCAS Yuma.

On March 10, 2009 the Airport and MCAS Yuma held a signing ceremony to formally adopt a Joint Use Agreement, cementing their positive working partnership.
